💡 Insider Knowledge

Disney Dining Tips

Booking Disney dining is part strategy, part timing, and part knowing what to ask for. These are the tips our advisors use every day to help guests land the reservations they want.

Book ADRs at Exactly 60 Days

Disney opens Advance Dining Reservations (ADRs) exactly 60 days before each day of your stay. For the most popular restaurants — Cinderella's Royal Table, Le Cellier, Be Our Guest dinner, Space 220 — you must be online at 6:00 AM Eastern the moment your 60-day window opens. These book within minutes.

Pro tip: Set a calendar alert for 5:55 AM on your 60-day mark and have the My Disney Experience app open and ready.

Check for Cancellations Daily

Missed your 60-day window? Don't give up. Disney guests cancel reservations constantly — especially in the 2-week window before a trip. Check the app or Disney's dining site daily, and especially early in the morning and late at night. Third-party tools like Mouseding or MouseWatcher can send you alerts automatically.

Many guests score last-minute Be Our Guest and Le Cellier reservations the week of their trip through persistence.

Eat at Off-Peak Times

Lunch is almost always cheaper and easier to book than dinner at the same restaurant. The experience is typically identical — same food, same atmosphere, often with better natural light — at a significantly lower price point. For park restaurants especially, an 11:30 AM or 2:30 PM reservation avoids the busiest dining rushes entirely.

Be Our Guest lunch (quick service) costs roughly half the price of the prix-fixe dinner, with the same magical atmosphere.

Prioritize Your Must-Dos

You can't eat everywhere — and you shouldn't try. Pick 2–3 "must-do" dining experiences per trip (a signature dinner, a character meal, one Disney Springs dinner) and be flexible about the rest. Over-scheduling meals leaves no room for spontaneous snacks, food festivals, and the Mickey bar you'll inevitably need at 3 PM.

Quality over quantity: one extraordinary dinner at Jiko beats three mediocre table-service meals rushed between attractions.

Character Meals: What to Know

Character dining is priced per person and represents some of the best character-interaction value on property — especially compared to paying for a separate character meet-and-greet in the park. Book character meals early in your trip (day 1 or 2) so if you miss a character interaction in the parks, you still have the meal to look forward to.

Families with young children should prioritize: 'Ohana breakfast (Lilo & Stitch), Tusker House (Donald's safari friends), and Crystal Palace (Pooh characters).

Disney Springs: No Ticket Required

Disney Springs is completely free to visit — no park ticket, no resort stay needed. It's one of the best dining values at Disney because you're eating at world-class restaurants (Morimoto Asia, The BOATHOUSE, STK) without paying park admission. Consider making Disney Springs the destination for your best dinner of the trip.

Disney Springs restaurants also tend to have more availability than park restaurants. Book 60 days out, but don't panic if you wait a little longer.

Let us handle your dining reservations — we know exactly when to book, which tables to request, and which restaurants are worth every penny. And it's completely free.
